Tim Cook Reveals the Launch Date for the New iPhone

CEO Tim Cook has announced that Apple will unveil a new product on February 19. Although the post does not provide specific details, analyst Mark Gurman from Bloomberg predicts that the device being introduced will be the fourth-generation iPhone SE.

“Get ready to meet the newest member of the family,” Tim Cook wrote on social media platform X. Below the post is a short video featuring the silver Apple logo.

Based on rumors and Cook’s post, it’s highly likely that Apple will introduce just one product on February 19.

According to MacRumors, the device is expected to be launched through a press release. However, an Apple representative might share details about the product via a video posted on YouTube, similar to the Mac computers introduced last year.

This is a rare occasion where the product launch date was first revealed on Tim Cook’s personal page instead of on the Apple website.

Earlier, rumors indicated that Apple would introduce the iPhone SE 4 this week. However, by February 12, Gurman stated that the company had postponed the device’s introduction to the following week.

Based on rumors, the iPhone SE 4 comes with several notable upgrades. With the code name V59, the model is said to resemble the iPhone 14 with a thin bezel display, removing the Home button in favor of Face ID and a notch. The display is expected to feature an OLED panel instead of an LCD, measuring 6.1 inches.

The iPhone SE 4 could be equipped with an A18 chip and 8 GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence, similar to the iPhone 16. The charging port on the device is likely to shift from Lightning to USB-C.

As part of the budget-friendly lineup, some features on the iPhone SE 4 will be scaled back, such as the rear camera which will have a single 48 MP lens.

This could be the first device to use Apple’s self-developed 5G modem, replacing Qualcomm’s. Regarding pricing, the iPhone SE 3 starts at $430. Based on rumors, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be priced around $500.

Of course, there is still a possibility that a different hardware device (not the iPhone SE 4) will be released on February 19.

According to 9to5Mac, the silver Apple logo reminds them of the Mac computers, suggesting that the MacBook Air M4 could also be a device to look forward to. Other products likely to be announced next week include the iPad Air M3 and the 11th-generation iPad.
