“I am the greatest in history, period. The numbers speak for themselves,” Cristiano Ronaldo declared on El Chiringuito.
The “numbers” Ronaldo referred to include his 923 career goals, most of which were scored while playing for Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Beyond that, the Portuguese superstar is also the all-time top scorer in international football history. At 39 years old, he continues to perform at an astonishing level, netting 23 goals in 25 appearances for Al Nassr this season.
In another interview with Edu Aguirre on La Sexta, Ronaldo shared insights about his life in Saudi Arabia, his thoughts on Kylian Mbappé, and other hot topics.
“Everything is going really well in Saudi Arabia,” Ronaldo said. “Almost two years have passed, and I am truly enjoying the experience. I love living here, and so does my family. I have always embraced challenges in life, ever since I left Madeira at 12 years old. I’m not afraid of big challenges—I love them.”
“Football in Saudi Arabia is different from Europe, but that doesn’t bother me. I understand what the league is like here. In football, you always know what to expect. This is just a different path in my life, and I really enjoy it,” the former Manchester United striker added.
Ronaldo also spoke about his adaptation in Saudi Arabia: “I left home at a young age, and I’ve lived in many countries, experienced many cultures. That’s why nothing feels difficult for me. As long as I’m with my family, my kids, and Georgina, I am happy.”
Discussing his pioneering role in Middle Eastern football, Ronaldo stated: “When I decided to come here, I didn’t expect the Saudi Pro League to grow so fast. But I knew that in one or two years, it would reach a high level. The SPL is, of course, better than MLS (Major League Soccer). Only those who have played in both can truly understand this.”
Finally, Ronaldo reflected on his dedication to football: “I still wake up with the same desire to train and play. Maybe a little less than before, but it’s my passion—I love what I do.”
