According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is likely to sell over 20 million units of the 4th generation iPhone SE in 2025, making it the most popular budget iPhone model to date.
Specifically, in a post on X, Kuo mentioned that the 4th generation iPhone SE is expected to sell about 12 million units in the first half of the year and 10 million units in the second half of 2025. This is clearly a remarkable figure compared to any previous iPhone SE models.
Kuo’s report also reveals that this new device will minimize the impact of the declining iPhone orders at this time of year while “accelerating the market penetration of Apple Intelligence-supported phones.”
The expert also added that the custom modem in the 4th generation iPhone SE could be the source of patent lawsuits from Qualcomm.
According to this, the 4th generation iPhone SE could be the first smartphone to use a 5G modem developed by Apple itself. The project, which started in 2018, aims to reduce Apple’s dependence on Qualcomm.
However, Qualcomm seems to believe it can still collect some patent licensing fees from Apple’s custom modem to offset losses from canceled component orders.
After years of speculation, the next generation iPhone SE is likely to be released next week. The information was shared by Gurman on February 6, meaning it was expected to launch in the past week. However, the timeline was pushed back by a week, as CEO Tim Cook personally revealed on his social media on February 13 that the product would launch a week later.
According to rumors, Apple will announce the iPhone SE 4 via a press release instead of hosting an event. Compared to its predecessor, the iPhone SE 4 features several notable upgrades.
First, the product has a design similar to the iPhone 14, with a slim bezel, removing the Home button in favor of Face ID and a notch. The display uses an OLED panel instead of an LCD, and it measures 6.1 inches.
